If you've already given them a second chance, the answer is yes.

You should give everyone a second chance and that's it. If they blow it, that's on them.
You have a responsibility to the rest of your team to eliminate bozos from the organization.

How to Give a Second Chance
I have not been happy with _____ (e.g. your arrival time at the office every day.)

I want to reiterate by specific exact expectations from you.
I expect you to _______ (e.g. arrive between 8am and 10am and work for 8 hours, 4 days a week.)

I'm scheduling a short meeting 2 weeks from now to follow up with this to see if you're meeting expectations
If you don't meet our expectations, I don't think CoinFlip is the right place for you.

How to Fire Someone
Do this in person, together with another manager in the room.

I have some bad news.
I made the tough decision to terminate your employment at CoinFlip because of performance reasons.
I know you weren't expecting this, so to make the transition easier, I am going to [pay you through the end of this week] [offer you 8 weeks of severance].
Please return any company equipment and you can go home.

Response to any excuses: I'm sorry, the decision is final.
Response to any `why?`: We haven't been satisfied with your job performance.
NOTE: Keep it short. Don't go into details, ever. This person is not going to be your friend.

How to Feel Better About It
1. If fear wasn't a factor, would you fire them?
2. You deserve to have fun at work. Do you have fun working with this person?
3. Are your other teammates going to feel relieved when you fire this person?
